Samandar Dehghani is a professional musician playing two Persian classical Instruments: Tar (string instrument) and Daf (hand drum). He has been playing Daf since he was 15 under the mentorship of his brother, percussionist, Sina Dehghani. He started Tar with Hasan Tafazoli in Isfahan and after preliminary studies, he continued his path with master musicians such as Behrouz Hemmati and Keyvan Saket in Tehran. He moved to the United States in 2012. He performs regularly in San Francisco Bay Area and throughout the country.
Sina Dehghani is known for his innovative style and improvisational mastery on the ancient Persian classical drums: Tombak (wooden drum) and Daf. He studied with prominent Persian master percussionists such as Bijan Kamkar, Masoud Habibi, and Navid Afghah. Dehghani has performed in renowned music ensembles in Iran. He has been teaching music for a number of years and currently performs in the San Francisco Bay Area and throughout the United States.
